Love lost the ability to use his arm due to frostbite enroute to Fort Jackson, Alabama. Edom was fighting the Creek Nation Indians during 1814.<\/p><p>In the midst of the <a title=\"War of 1812\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/War_of_1812\">War of 1812<\/a>, an 1813 civil war in the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Creek Nation\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Creek_Nation\">Creek Nation<\/a>\u00a0led to an invasion by Americans from\u00a0<a title=\"Tennessee\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tennessee\">Tennessee<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Georgia (U.S. state)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Georgia_(U.S._state)\">Georgia<\/a>, and\u00a0<a title=\"Mississippi Territory\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mississippi_Territory\">Mississippi Territory<\/a>. In the ensuing\u00a0<a title=\"Creek War\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Creek_War\">Creek War<\/a>\u00a0of 1813-1814, General\u00a0<a title=\"Andrew Jackson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andrew_Jackson\">Andrew Jackson<\/a>\u00a0commanded the combined American forces of Tennessee militia, U.S. regulars, and Cherokee and Creek Indian allies. Jackson defeated the Red Stick Creeks at the\u00a0<a title=\"Battle of Horseshoe Bend (1814)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Battle_of_Horseshoe_Bend_(1814)\">Battle of Horseshoe Bend<\/a>\u00a0in 1814, and afterwards initiated construction of a fort atop the site of the old French fort at the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers. The fort was intentionally built near the sacred Creek site known as the\u00a0<a title=\"Hickory Ground\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hickory_Ground\">Hickory Ground<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fort_Jackson_(Alabama)#cite_note-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Jackson then temporarily traveled to Washington and in his absence, the fort was named &#8220;Jackson&#8221; in his honor. After Jackson&#8217;s return, he imposed the\u00a0<a title=\"Treaty of Fort Jackson\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Treaty_of_Fort_Jackson\">Treaty of Fort Jackson<\/a>\u00a0upon both the Northern Creek enemies and the Southern Creek allies, wresting 20,000,000 acres (8,100,000\u00a0ha) from all Creeks for white settlement.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6308da2 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" We have record of his family living here in 1820.
