Esther Gaston met Revolutionary War Patriot, Robert Aiken in South Carolina and they married on Christmas Day. They moved and  settled in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

William Audley Gaston & Ann Porter

Born in Ireland and immigrated as a young child. Fought for Independance and Liberty as a Captain in the Revolutionary War.

Judge John Gaston Sr. & Esther Waugh

Judge John immigrated with his wife and young family around 1750. He became a judge for the English as well as the new country after the Revolutionary War. He was a leader in his community for Independence and Religious Freedom. Nine of his sons fought in the battles for freedom.

William Gaston & Mary Olivet Lemon

William was a french Huguenot who was banished from France to Scotland then moved to Antrim, Ireland for religious freedom. The crown wouldn’t recognize their marriages so his son John Immigrated to America.

Jean Gaston

Birth around 1600.. Fled France to Scotland as a religious refugee who followed French Protestants who were influenced by Calvin and Martin Luther. The French government called  the refugees a French Huguenot

What is a French Huguenot?

Huguenots were French Protestants who were active in the 16th and 17th centuries. Forced to flee France due to religious and political persecution by the Catholic Church and the Crown, many settled in what is now the United States of America.
About French Huguenots
