The Legacy and Memories of the Jackson Family

Mary Howard Jackson & George H. Kimbrough

Mary was married twice and had five children. She always rode side saddle. She was a beautiful seamstress and did much fancy work such as knitting crochet, embroidery, etc. She raised turkeys and had an incredible vegetable and flower garden. She was always giving to friends, neighbors and the occassional homeless person on the rode.

Albert Emmett Jackson & Mary Louisa Carter

Albert Emmett Jackson was born on a the large Jackson Plantation. His father died when he was 24 yrs. He helped his mother through a legal battle to keep their land and property. Albert joined the Civil War as a confederate soldier in the 11th Mississippi Calvary Regiment. He was involved in the Savannah Campaign, Sherman’s March to the Sea. He continued farming when he came home and they kept the Jackson Plantation in the family.

Mathew Jackson & Jane Love Aiken

Mathew Jackson was born in 1799, Prince Edward, Virginia. He was orphaned at a very young age. Mathew met Jane in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and soon after they were married. They found their final home and built a beautiful plantation in Scooba, Kemper Co. Mississippi.

Abel & Patsey Jackson

Abel was born about 1768 in Charlotte, Virginia. His father died when he was a few years old. His mother remarried and he lived happily with his step-father for many years.  He moved to Abbeville Co. So. Carolina and had a sizable plantation. He became sick and passed away at the age of 38yrs. leaving small children.

Hezekiah Jackson & Elizabeth Pamplett

Hezekiah and Elizabeth met and married in British Colonial Virginia. They had a four children.  Hezekiah didn’t own land and didn’t have much but the simple farming life. His life was cut short at the age of 38 leaving his wife a widow and children fatherless. 

Joseph Jackson & Martha

Born about 1700 in Henrico, Virginia. He raised a beautiful family in British Colonial Virginia during the Revolutionary War.  His son Hezekiah preceded him in death. In his will he remembers Hezekiah’s children. 

Matthew Jackson

Patsey Jackson’s Father

Matthew Jackson had a huge plantation that was very successful in the late 18th century. He raised 8 beautiful children. Mathew attended his daughters wedding between Abel and Patsey just four short years before he passed away.
