Mary Louisa Carter & Albert Emmett Jackson

Mary Louisa Carter was born in Kemper, Mississippi to Clarke and Sarah Carter in 1835. They lived on a large cotton plantation. Her husband Albert E. Jackson fought in the Civil War to maintain the Southern way of life. The South went through huge changes from losing the war.

Clarke Carter & Sarah Dawson

Clarke and Sarah were both born in Georgia to affluent parents. They married and moved to Kemper, Mississippi building a large cotton plantation.

Isaac Carter & Mary Clarke

Isaac Carter at the age of 17 fought in the Revolutionary War with his father. He later fought again for his country in the War of 1812. He married Mary Clarke and raised a large family. They lived in Georgia, Mississippi, and finally in Alabama.

James Carter

James Carter played a part in the Revolutionary War for Independence. Later in 1793, he lived in Georgia and was part of the Militia that fought the Oconee Creek Indians. As a result of the war, some Creek Oconee moved across the border into northern Florida, and then further south in the state, to escape European-American encroachment.
