Gideon Patterson Will July 1803
In the name of God I Gideon Patterson of Caswell County being in a very low state of health but in my right mind and reason do make this my last will and Testament it is my Desire that my negroes should be continued on the plantation where they now are until all my Just Debts are paid, and then it is my will that Agge & Merrier should not be held in Bondage to any person, that my Executor hereafter named shall for their faithful service procure their Liberty. I give to my son Gideon Patterson my negro man Isaac, my bed, and furniture, one mare, and colt also whatever may remain of my Estate after the money due to me is collected and my Debts are paid.
